Confirmation classes are generally offered to youth entering 7th and 8th grade. If your child is older, or you as an adult are interested in being confirmed, please contact the church and ask to speak with Suzanne Snider or Pastor Dave Dockweiler. Our Confirmation Program consists of two years of instruction that cover the five promises that are made during the Affirmation of Baptism. Affirmation of Baptism is made at the completion of the Confirmation Instruction.
The Five Promises of the Affirmation of Baptism
1) To live among God's faithful people
2) To hear his Word and share in his supper
3) To proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed
4) To serve all people, following the example of our Lord Jesus
5) To strive for justice and peace in all the Earth
This year we are using a new curriculum from Spark House entitle "Colaborate." We are looking forward to a fun upbeat year learning all about what it means to be Lutheran and how the stories of the New Testament are relevant to us in our everyday lives. Confirmation class meets every Sunday evening from 6:30-7:30pm. We also encourage these youth to take part in youth dinners approximately once a month, our Mentor Program where they will be paired up with a member of the congregation who will act as a friend, advisor, and role model throughout their instruction, a weekend retreat in March to Great Wolf Lodge, and various other activities and service projects happening within the church.
If you are interested in having your child take part in Confirmation for the 2016-2017 year, please contact Suzanne Snider at email@example.com or via telephone at 616-532-2774.
